I saw the man above on one of my many trips to Bath. To be honest I have seen him
before but never in this role. I say role because he is a Street Performer and on
this particular day he was acting the role of a Living Statue. Basically he covers
himself from head to toe in grey make-up, or what actors like to call greasepaint,
and stands motionless on a wooden box. It is always fascinating to watch people walk
up to him to see if he is a real statue. And it is really funny to see them jump
out of their skins when he moves. Now I thought that you might not believe that this
is a real person but if you look at the pictures you will notice that in one he is
holding a pipe and in another he is not holding a pipe. If you look carefully you
will also notice that the shape of his hand is slightly different. I think that the
pigeon on his shoulder says it all because if he can fool a pigeon into believing
he is not real I reckon he could fool just about anyone. It should never be forgotten
that these people are street performers and that this is what they do for a living.
So after taking the above pictures I put some money in the small vase that was placed
on the floor just in front of the box he was standing on.
